Prescription Medication Disposal
Old medications should never be disposed of down the toilet.
Most people don't realize that water treatment facilities do not test or treat for medications. Because of improper disposal, detectable amounts of discarded medication are showing up in the waterways across the country.
Do your part and dispose of your old medications properly. If you are unable to bring them to the police stations listed below, please add water and dish soap to each bottle and wrap in duct tape before placing in the trash.
For more information about proper disposal, please call the Salt Lake Valley Health Department at (801) 313-6700.
