Eagle Scouts

The Salt Lake Valley Health Department supports Eagle Scout projects dealing with the proper disposal household hazardous wastes.

It is important that the Eagle Scout brings an original signed letter from the Health Department with them when delivering the waste so the facility staff can verify that their project has been approved.

If the Eagle Scout does not comply with the above stated requirements, the staff cannot sign off on their project.

To obtain the required letter please call the Water Quality and Hazardous Waste Bureau at (801) 313-6700.

Guidelines

In order to complete their project safely and successfully, we ask that they follow these guidelines:

  • Collect latex and oil based paints only.
  • Collect waste from homeowners in Salt Lake County only.
  • Collect materials from homes only. Write down the address of each home that you collect waste from.
  • You MUST call the facility at (801) 541-4078 to set up a time to drop off the waste you collect.
  • Bring your Eagle Scout paperwork with you to the disposal site.
  • Please don’t bring your waste on Saturday.
