The Drinking Water program includes watershed/source protection, groundwater, and public water supplies.

At the Salt Lake Valley Health Department we help protect the public drinking water systems by:

  • Inspecting the 35 community and 40 non-community public water systems on a regular schedule to ensure safety.
  • Collecting water samples from systems on a regular basis and analyzed for indicators of contamination.
  • Investigating suspected waterborne illnesses and complaints from the public.
  • Building plans are reviewed to make sure that adequate drinking water is available.
  • Developing plans and regulation for drinking water source protection.

The Salt Lake Valley Health Department strives to protect public drinking water supplies and ensure fluoride is added to the water through enforcement of Health Regulations #11, 12, 14 and 33.
