Secondhand Smoke

More than 4,000 chemicals can be found in secondhand smoke and at least 50 have been known to cause cancer.

These are just a few of the chemicals found in secondhand smoke.

  • Arsenic (found in pesticide)
  • Formaldehyde (used to embalm dead bodies)
  • Lead (once used in paint until they found it to be too dangerous)
  • Ammonia (used in household cleaners)
  • Carbon Monoxide (found in car exhaust)
  • Benzene (found in gasoline)
  • Cadmium (found in batteries)
  • Butane (used in lighter fluid)
