Indoor Air Quality
(Non Tobacco)

The purpose of the Salt Lake Valley Health Department Indoor Air Quality Program is to investigate reports of problems with indoor air pollution in businesses or homes when the cause is not from the use of tobacco.

CO2 DetectorFaulty furnaces can cause carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning; carbon monoxide is odorless and invisible. Visit the CDC's carbon monoxide prevention guidelines to learn how to keep your family safe, and to learn the signs of CO poisoning.

In addition to carbon monoxide, there are many other contaminants that can cause indoor air pollution. These are often reported as “peculiar” or “chemical” odors or it is reported that people using the building are getting sick.
