Reportable Diseases

The Utah Communicable Disease Rule, R386-702, from the Utah Administrative Code requires reporting of certain specific diseases to the Salt Lake Valley Health Department.

Also reportable are:

  • Any unusual occurrence of infectious or communicable disease
  • Any unusual or increased occurrence of any illness that may indicate a Bioterrorism event or public health hazard
  • Any single case or multiple cases of newly recognized emergent or re-emergent disease or disease-producing agent
  • Newly identified bacteria
  • A novel influenza strain, such as a pandemic influenza strain
  • Any unusual diseases or outbreaks of any kind
  • Elevated blood lead levels greater than or equal to 10 micrograms.
