The Concept
Following the 2009 H1N1/swine flu public health emergency, most people know that public health is in charge of tracking infectious diseases in our community and administering potentially life-saving vaccinations.
But what else does public health do?
The field of public health is vast. The Salt Lake Valley Health Department itself spans five divisions - Administration, Community Health Services, Family Health Services, Environmental Health Services and Medical Services - and employs over 200 people.
So what does this mean?
That over 200 employees of the Salt Lake Valley Health Department dedicate their day to the mission of promoting - and protecting - both the individual, community and environmental health of Salt Lake County.
We want our residents to know more about us - what we do, why we do it, and how it benefits our community. That's why we came up with the concept for a short, informational and fun YouTube miniseries - Public Health Professioanls - to share our world with you.
