The HIV Outreach Prevention Education Program provides behavioral change interventions through a variety of population specific programs supported by annual grants from the Utah Department of Health HIV/AIDS Bureau, and other funding sources.

Community Education

Staff provides free presentations to the community. Topics include HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), Hepatitis and Risk/Harm Reduction. The HIV Outreach program provides culturally appropriate literature and educational materials on HIV, HIV testing and counseling, STIs, Hepatitis and other related materials. HIV testing and counseling is also available upon request.

The HIV outreach staff provides multi-session health education classes to incarcerated women and men housed at the Adult Detention Complex (ADC). Topics include HIV, STIs, Hepatitis, Harm Reduction, Prevention Skills, Healthy Sexuality, Sexual Assault and other issues related to high-risk behaviors. Classes are also taught in Spanish.

HIV Testing and Counseling


image Free HIV testing and counseling are provided to any agency/organization that requests this service. Currently, OraQuick, the new FDA approved test is available. For information about scheduling testing and counseling for your organization call.

Hepatitis C Support Group


image The hepatitis support group is held the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM. This group provides support, education and information for individuals living with Hep C. This is collaboration with the HIV/STD Clinic. For additional information contact Amber at 801-534-4620.

Connnecte


imageConnecte is a program funded by Ryan White Title II. This is an outreach program to identify individuals in the Hispanic Community who are HIV+ or living with AIDS and have never accessed care, or have been lost to care. The purpose is to connect HIV+ or people living with AIDS to medical and supportive services. Outreach workers are bi-lingual. Contact Veronica at 534-4586 or Juan at 534-4524.

Educational Materials


image Program provides agencies and individuals with free culturally appropriate literature and education materials on HIV, HIV testing and counseling, STIs, Hepatitis, etc. Risk reduction supplies are also available. Materials are located at 610 South 200 East, #200.
