SLVHD Scheduling Evening Appointments This Tuesday

Appointments available for booking Tuesday at 9 a.m. online or by calling (801) 743-7280

(Salt Lake County) – The Salt Lake Valley Health Department (SLVHD) will offer a series of special H1N1 vaccination appointments available this week on Wednesday and Thursday for individuals that fall into the CDC’s priority groups (details below).

Starting at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday (12/8), evening appointments may be booked for Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Phone lines will remain open until noon, or until all available appointments have been booked.

“We decided to offer a series of evening appointments this week to accommodate those who are unable to come to our clinics during regular business hours,” said Dr. Audrey Stevenson, director of family health services. “We hope that providing evening appointments will better serve those in Salt Lake County who are at the highest risk of H1N1 infection.”

All clients with an appointment will be screened at the clinic to confirm eligibility. Those eligible to receive the H1N1 vaccine:
  • Pregnant women

  • Those who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age

  • Health care or emergency medical personnel with direct patient contact

  • Children age 6 months to 24 years of age

  • Those under the age of 65 with chronic medical conditions associated with higher risk of medical problems from influenza

Appointments may be booked online or by calling SLVHD’s Vaccination Hotline at (801) 743-7280 (details below).

Due to the expected high volume of calls, callers should redial if they receive a busy signal. Callers will be added to the phone queue once they are connected.

The vaccine is provided at no out-of-pocket cost to individuals at SLVHD clinics; however, those with health insurance are encouraged to bring their card. Individuals without health insurance will still receive the vaccination at no cost.

Appointments will be book for the following SLVHD clinic locations:

South Main Public Health Center
3690 South Main Street
Salt Lake City, Utah 84115
