Kristen M. Ries, M.D. Kristen is one of the most recognized and influential Utahans in the field of AIDS care, research, treatment and education. In addition, she is known for her compassion to patients and their families. She is currently a professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah, the director of the AIDS Center and is board certified in infectious diseases. Kristen serves on the Board of Health Communicable Diseases Subcommittee and the Food Safety Committee. She earned her Master's degree in education at Pennsylvania State University and then completed her medical training at the Women's Medical College of Pennsylvania. Later, she completed her residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Infectious Disease at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. The following six years were spent in private practice and working as a General Medical Services for the Indian Health Services in South Dakota. Since coming to Utah in 1981, most of her time has been spent in the care of HIV/AIDS patients, as well as educating the community about this devastating disease. |
