Immunizations

The Salt Lake Valley Health Department is committed to providing immunizations to all children, adolescents, and adults.

Adults, remember, it's important for you to keep up on YOUR immunizations, too.

For uninsured families, those with Medicaid, or families unable to pay full price, Vaccines for Children (VFC) are available from $10 to $14.50 per dose. This includes the VFC flu vaccine.

Immunization Clinic Hours

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  
  • In addition to the above, all clinics are open Wednesdays 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  
  • The Rose Park clinic is open for immunizations only on Wednesdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m and 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  
  • All clinics are closed on federal and state holidays.

Immunizations Schedules and Recommendations

If you have a child who will begin kindergarten this year (2012), she/he probably needs a DTaP and polio booster, as well as a second varicella vaccine. All of our clinics stock all recommended childhood, adolescent, and adult vaccines.

Along with your kindergartener, your teenager may need additional vaccines as well—all 11-18 year olds need a Tdap, at least one Menactra vaccine to prevent meningitis, and three “Human Papilloma Virus” vaccines—this is often referred to as the HPV vaccine.   The HPV vaccine gives lifetime protection against the viruses that cause cervical cancer and other genital cancers and warts. Your teen may also need a second varicella, if this vaccine wasn’t given earlier.
